The National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) is an initiative by the Government of India aimed at empowering citizens by making at least one person in every household digitally literate. Launched under the broader framework of Digital India, the NDLM focuses on spreading digital literacy, particularly among the underprivileged and marginalized sections of society. The programme aims to educate citizens in basic digital skills, such as operating a computer or mobile phone, accessing the internet, using digital services like emails, digital payments, and navigating government e-services. The idea is to bridge the digital divide and make people more self-reliant in the digital era.
Training is provided through government-accredited training centers across the country. Beneficiaries receive a certification after assessment.
NDLM is a significant step towards promoting inclusive growth, ensuring digital empowerment, and preparing citizens for a knowledge-based society. By making individuals digitally literate, the programme supports better education, job opportunities, and access to information and services.
